Welcome!

Welcome to my history blog! I chose to name my blog “Right Ordering” because this is the conceptual frame I am using to describe what “peace” meant to people in the eighteenth-century Atlantic World. Right ordering is my way of understanding peace as an expression of power, for good or ill. In a broad sense, indigenous people and colonists in North America struggled to create “right ordering” in their worlds, and we continue to do so in our own time. As a blog title, “right ordering” is also fitting because it conveys my own attempt to make sense of the past and present.
